Water
Water is essential for hiking. Whether the trail is short or long, in hot or cold conditions, staying hydrated is critical to your safety and performance. Once you’ve been confirmed for a hike, HACO will inform you of the minimum amount of water you’ll need to carry. Don’t worry if you’re concerned about running out—our guides always carry extra water to support the group if needed. We recommend bringing a durable water bottle or a hydration bladder for easy, frequent sipping throughout the hike.
For overnight hikes, we understand the need to travel light. These routes are planned with access to water sources for refills along the way. The HACO team also carries filter bottles to safely collect water from natural sources when necessary.
Our guides are trained in remote first aid and are equipped to spot early signs of dehydration. If asked to drink water—regardless of how you feel—please follow their instructions. Hydration and electrolyte tablets are also available if required.
