Weather
In the lead-up to each scheduled hike, HACO stays in regular contact with participants, providing weather updates and guidance on suitable clothing and gear.
From a week before the hike, HACO actively monitors forecasts through the Bureau of Meteorology and tracks relevant VIC emergency alerts. These may include warnings for flooding, severe lightning storms, high-pollen thunderstorms, extreme heat, or active bushfires.
Despite thorough planning, weather can change without warning. For the safety of all involved, HACO may alter the route or cancel the hike at short notice if conditions become unsafe.
